Just when I think I've seen it all and didn't expect anymore surprises tonight sure was one. I arrived at work only to be informed that there was a kitty in my lobby area. Turns out it was in the wall. We have some new staff members and the one on duty didn't think to call out manager to tell her that the kitten had gotten out of its crate and jumped inside the wall. Of course if she had left the kitten in its crate in the manager's office none of the following actions would have been required. It wouldn't come out for her and it wouldn't come out for me. So there I am at 12:30am calling my manager to inform her that we have a wee animal stuck in the wall. Of course we had to get it out before the next shift and since we are the corporate office site, before the owner came in later today. I thought about calling the fire department, but they probably would have torn down the whole wall so I didn't. I certainly didn't want to have to explain that to the owner even though it wasn't my fault the kitten was in the wall in the first place. It got there via my manager. She had found it at the other hotel she manages. She's a real softie at heart for animals.
So there we are, the manager and I,two grown older women, on the floor (what a sight that must have been), trying to entice this little bundle of frightened trouble to come out of its hiding place. Nothing we did worked. As a last resort we started tearing off the wallpaper and making holes in the plasterboard trying to extricate the little bundle of fur.
A few false starts and some plaster messes, but we succeeded in getting the precious kitten out of the wall. After comforting it for a few minutes my manager handed it to me and proceeded to repair the damage we had done. I took the little bundle of trouble and put it back in the crate where it should have stayed prior to its adventure. I also put a cover over the crate. The poor exhausted baby cuddled up in the towels with its stuffed animal and promptly fell asleep.
It looks to young to be away from its mother so my manager will bottle feed it special formula that mimics a mother cat's milk.
Although I am not a cat lover I have to admit that this little kitten stole my heart.
But if you ever tell anyone I will deny it for sure.

- MI, United States
- I am an Aries born on April 1st. College educated and a Marine veteran of the Viet Nam era. Nothing spectacular to say about my life other than I have survived this long because I have a wicked sense of humor that has gotten me through hard times along with the fact that I am a strong woman. I don't give up easily. I love to cross stitch as you can see by some of my work displayed here. Reading is a favorite past time. I enjoy traveling and exploring out of the way places. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my 2 favorite boys Zander who is 5 and his brother Jr. who is 2. They are intelligent, funny and loving. And now they have a new baby sister named Izabella who, I'm sure, will educated them in the art of getting along with girls. If I had a chance to do my life over I wouldn't because I would miss out on having these 3 grandchildren to love. I hope that I can be a part of their lives for many more years to come. I plan on living life to the fullest means possible and hope I can stay healthy enough to do some of the things that I want to.
