Someone asked me about one of the cross stitch projects seen here in my blog. I'd like to clarify that although the designs are not mine the work is.
These are projects that I have worked on and completed over the years as a cross stitcher.
My career as a cross stitcher started late in my life, probably when I was in my early 30s. By then my children were big enough that they didn't demand every minute of my time so I was looking for something that was creative to do. I can't draw, paint, crochet or knit, but I managed to teach myself the ins and outs of cross stitching. Even now I will not claim to be an expert as I hate any stitches that don't make a complete X. Backstitching is a real effort for me and I tend to avoid projects with that if I can. However, I did take up needlepunch for a while as you can see by the Easter Bunny posted here.
I'm not one to stay with a certain type of design. If I see something I like I stitch it. I have learned that I do not make a good teacher when it comes to teaching this craft to another person. Unfortunately I have a tendency to forget when I didn't know how to do it.
And I am a neatnik when it comes to my stitching. The stitches have to be neat and uniform in appearance. The back of the project must be the same even though I know that once mounted and framed no one will ever see the back. But what can I say? I am a fanatic about that. My grandmother used to say that if something was worth doing it was worth doing well and correctly.
I hope that you enjoy your visits to my blog.

- MI, United States
- I am an Aries born on April 1st. College educated and a Marine veteran of the Viet Nam era. Nothing spectacular to say about my life other than I have survived this long because I have a wicked sense of humor that has gotten me through hard times along with the fact that I am a strong woman. I don't give up easily. I love to cross stitch as you can see by some of my work displayed here. Reading is a favorite past time. I enjoy traveling and exploring out of the way places. Most of all I enjoy spending time with my 2 favorite boys Zander who is 5 and his brother Jr. who is 2. They are intelligent, funny and loving. And now they have a new baby sister named Izabella who, I'm sure, will educated them in the art of getting along with girls. If I had a chance to do my life over I wouldn't because I would miss out on having these 3 grandchildren to love. I hope that I can be a part of their lives for many more years to come. I plan on living life to the fullest means possible and hope I can stay healthy enough to do some of the things that I want to.
